News Update on the Headley Pavilion October 2025

Heading photo: new hall floor; door and window frames under construction.

A lot of building work happens before you can see progress. For the last few months the site has been a flurry of activity but most of the work will end up hidden from view. This month is different, because suddenly we can really see the new shape of the building coming together, inside and out.

The Flint Construction team have put a new liquid screed on the hall floor which replaces the old, damaged floor and will be a lot stronger. The new foyer looks complete and the roof balcony above is ready for paving and railings.

Internally, the walls are being covered in a double layer of plasterboard, to be skimmed and painted in an attractive colour scheme. Not more painted blockwork like a farm building! Door linings are being installed and the mass of wiring and pipework that have gone in over the past few weeks are being joined up to become a functioning system.

The commercial spec. kitchen design work is complete and all the components are on order. The bar design is complete and fit-out will commence next month. Our architect Gordon Kerr has been a tremendous help through this complex build and scarcely a day goes by without an email (or several) to check details with the contractor and confirm requirements with us on the Parish Council working party.

The time taken for the hall floor screed to harden has delayed the project slightly but it is unlikely to significantly affect the final fit-out and opening dates in 2026. We will have a formal opening ceremony and celebratory event on the Bank Holiday 4th May 2026 so save the date and do come along!
