News Update Headley Pavilion Project March 2026

As anyone who has had any major work done on their house will know, there isn’t an exact moment when it is “finished”! The Flint Construction team worked extremely hard to get everything ready for the scheduled handover in February, and all of their work inside the building was completed. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the work on completing paths, making good the landscaping and laying concrete sections was delayed which is why the builder’s compound although much smaller, hasn’t disappeared completely yet.

That hasn’t stopped the Pavilion Working Party from getting on with the finishing touches inside the building. Furniture had to be moved from storage; cupboards and loft spaces cleared and consumable items ordered. In the process we discovered a mini-archive of documents going back through the generations of pavilions we have had in Headley – does anyone remember the Thackeray Pavilion pictured above, that was replaced in the 1990’s?

You may have noticed some other excavations at the side of the playing fields. This will be a new 16-lane terrain for the Pétanque Club which will be moving back to Headley. The club was originally formed in Arford and played in the Wheatsheaf pub car park before the pub closed and burned down. This construction work was also delayed by the heavy rain but will be completed soon.

We will shortly be contacting those organisations that have expressed an interest in running activities in the pavilion and organising viewings prior to further discussions. We are also busy preparing for our Grand Opening Event and Here’s Headley Show to be held on Bank Holiday Monday 4th May.  Do come along on the day to look around the Pavilion, meet the team and see the showcase of other activities that take place in and around the village in the Here’s Headley stalls. We will also have our popular food trucks and beverage sales available to make sure you have a fun day out!
