January News

The Parish Council wishes all the residents of Headley a very Happy and Healthy New Year.

Several residents had notified us of the broken handrail at the steps on Arford Common.  We are pleased to confirm that this has been repaired ensuring safe access onto the Common.

Our regular playground inspections flagged up damage to the scramble net at the Mill Lane Playing Fields.  This has now been fully repaired – once it gets a little warmer, why not go and have a look?

Unfortunately, disease and weather damage had necessitated the removal of several trees on Standford Green. The Parish Council was delighted to receive confirmation of grant funding from District Councillor Anthony Williams to plant new oak trees to replace them.  The new trees will be planted in the next few months, we will keep you posted.

A reminder that Hampshire County Council has launched a public consultation to understand people’s view across Hampshire on proposals to change and reduce some local services to help address a £132 million budget shortfall faced by April 2025.  The consultation will run until 31 March 2024, and it is important they hear from as many people as possible – residents, businesses, community and voluntary organisations.  The Consultation can be viewed online, and feedback given at www.hants.gov.uk/future-services-consultation

We do appreciate local residents picking up litter from the roadside in Headley.  A great effort, but a shame there is a need for it.  Please do not throw litter from your car, it spoils our lovely Parish, and it is dirty, dangerous work picking it up.

The next Full Council Meeting will take place on Monday 12th February at the Village Hall.  Members of the public are welcome to attend.
