Christmas Around the Green

This weekend had two rather special Christmas events in Headley: Carols on the Green on Friday evening and the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols at All Saints Church, Headley on Sunday. Both events were supported by organisations in our community, including Headley Parish Council.

Our new Christmas lights on the Village Green were a wonderful backdrop to the Carols on the Green service. Music was provided by the Salvation Army brass band; mulled apple juice and mince pies by All Saints Headley; poetry readings from the community including our Parish Council Chairman Anthony Williams; and carols sung by over 200 members of our lovely village community. During the service everyone took part in a lantern procession all around the green, led by Reverend Yann Dubreuil carrying a huge, illuminated star!

On Sunday we had our traditional service of Nine Lessons and Carols in the church. Again, readings were provided by community members including our new Parish Councillor Neville Merritt. We are very lucky to have such a traditional, picturesque church at the centre of the village. Afterwards we retired across the road to the Church Centre to catch up with friends, sip mulled wine and eat more mince pies!
