Headley Parish Council is delighted to have received confirmation that all 3 funding bids they submitted for works at Headley Sports Pavilion and Playing Fields have been successful. 

The Parish Council applied to the Section 106 Community Facilities Fund and was awarded £300,000 towards the Headley Sports Pavilion refurbishment.  The EHDC CIL (Community Infrastructure Levy) Fund awarded over £411,000 towards the project.  Combined with the Parish Council’s reserves, the long-awaited project is almost fully funded.

The application to the EHDC CIL Fund for £112,000 for works to improve the sports pitches was also awarded.  Work has commenced on this project providing 3 additional football pitches to cater for youth, junior and minis. Additional car parking space has also been created to relieve the pressure on local roads at weekends.

Headley Sports Pavilion and Playing Fields has long been a community sports hub.  The facility currently offers football, cricket, bowls, tennis and table tennis.  The Headley Sports Association who manages the facility commented “The Headley Sports Association would like to thank Headley Parish Council, and in particular Cllrs Deborah Chamberlain, Rita Stubbings and Mark Dickens, for their hard work in progressing the ideas associated with the ‘Refurbishment of the Pavilion and Field 6’”.

Keith Ellis, Chairman of Headley Cricket Club said “Headley Cricket Club congratulate the Parish Council for their success in obtaining the funding for the Pavilion refurbishment at Headley Playing Fields.  Cllr Chamberlain and her colleagues have been tireless in their resolve to make the Pavilion an attractive hub, once again, for sporting and social activities in the village.  This aligns completely with the Cricket Club’s medium-term aim to make Headley a wonderful place to play cricket again.”

Headley Parish Council Chairman, Cllr Anthony Williams commented “The Parish Council is very grateful to have been successful in its S106 and CIL bids which are going towards improved community sports facilities.

Not only is it good news for local residents, the playing fields and pavilion are used by residents from neighbouring parishes.  This important funding ensures that the Headley community and beyond will have a fantastic leisure resource to enjoy for many years to come.”

Thanks to Andrew Luff for over 38 Years of Service as a Parish Councillor

The Parish Council recently said goodbye to Andrew Luff who had served as a Parish Councillor for over 38 years and presented him with a reward in recognition of his service.

Chairman, Cllr Anthony Williams commented “Headley Parish Council is extremely grateful to Andrew for his long and dedicated contribution over many years.  As a familiar face around Headley, we look forward to seeing him and will miss working with him.”

New Councillors Appointed
